Lauren & Nate – August 27, 2016 – The Quarry Golf Club Wedding – Canton, OH

Lauren and Nate have many things, friendship, love, laughter and dagnabbit they have serious style as well.  Their wedding was gorgeous in every detail and so many little details that had personal meaning as well; from Lauren’s Grandmother’s ring that she wore on her right hand, to the handkerchief she carried at her First Communion being carried again on her wedding day to a display of wedding photos from her parents and Grandparents there where little touches of them everywhere you turned.  So yes, a photographers paradise!

Having my trusty second photographer, Heather, with me meant we could begin our day simultaneously spending time with the Bride and the Groom as they finished getting ready and prepared for the ceremony.  I arrived just as Lauren was opening her gift from Nate, a beautiful gold necklace with a pendant that spelled out “Mrs.”.  So yeah, there were tears from the very first moment.  One of my favorite moments is always watching the Bride as she transforms from a woman on the verge of marriage into a Bride.  That first time they see their self in a mirror always produces a big smile and that glow that comes with the day settles over them as gently as their veil.

Nate and Lauren’s ceremony overlooking the beautiful pond and greens of the golf course was simple, but with reading by family members, a unity candle and a special prayer before their first kiss for which the gathered guests were invited to stand and pledge to support the couple and their marriage was truly moving.  Once the vows were said and a quick refreshing drink was grabbed (yeah, Lauren totally snagged Nate’s beer which was the REAL sign they were married)  we gathered the family and bridal party for photos and then spent some time with the newlyweds capturing their sweet and silly sides before cooling off indoors as the reception was kicked off with toasts by the Best Man/Groom’s brother and Maid of Honor/Bride’s sister and a speech of thanks and prayer by the Father of the Bride.  The dinner was sublime, from presentation to meltingly deliciousness the catering staff at The Quarry are simply amazing.   From dinner to cake to opening the dance floor to celebrating the day under cooling breezes and the flickering flashes of a passing thunderstorm the gathered family and friends truly came together to honor the culmination of a love over a decade in building.

Stefanie & Kip – August 20, 2016 – Rockefeller Park Greenhouse Wedding – Cleveland, OH

“Laughter through tears is my favorite emotion.” –  said Truvy in Steel Magnolias and that really sums up the emotion of Stefanie and Kip’s wedding day.  I won’t lie, I hear but don’t usually listen to what is said during a wedding ceremony beyond alerting to the verbal cues that tell me what part we’re on so I can focus on where to be and when to click my shutter.  When couples write their own vows my ears do perk up enough to catch much of what they have to say to each other, but Saturday I had to remind myself to focus on shooting and not to get lost in the deeply emotional words the Bride and Groom were directing at each other.  It was just wonderful and a huge part of what I love about my job.  I am not there to shoot just a wedding, I am there to help you tell your love story in pictures.  And that was the story I heard; there were tears and it was hard and it took a lot of communication and caring and sharing and supporting, but Stefanie saw the worthiness of Kip and Kip saw the same in Stefanie and they built each other up, loved and laughed and they are a team, unified and complete in each other.  And it was beautiful to witness all day long.

The Rockefeller Park Greenhouse has been on my bucket list for a while now.  I love the idea of a green place where it can always be warm, will always be brimming with life and by golly I don’t have to wonder if it rains will it be icky looking inside or not!  And it was all I had hoped for and more, though we were enjoying the lovely weather outside and it was warm enough that the greenhouse’s humidity was less than appreciated.  We also took time to enjoy the blend of architecture and natural beauty of the Cultural Gardens and I had a blast running the Bridal Party up and down staircases and I wanna say they had a pretty fun time doing it all for me with laughter on their lips as well.

Kip and Stefanie’s reception was at the Middleburg Hts. Community Center which has a very lovely ballroom and the food was spectacular and the decor with all its touches of green (my favorite color too!) were truly elegant.   The DJ, Scott Sulecki of 1 Smooth DJ made sure everyone’s requests were played and that the dance floor was kept hopping all night long.  The only detail left hanging is whether I will get to call to tuck myself into a suitcase so I can steal away with the new Mr. & Mrs. on the honeymoon in Greece.  It could happen, no?

Lauren & Rich – August 5, 2016 – Chateau Michele – Canton, OH

Lauren & Rich were referred to me by a cousin who was a 2014 KPP Bride and a sweeter couple I could not have asked for.    Each person, family or friend coming together to ensure the entire day ran seamlessly.

The weather was beautiful, if a bit in keeping with this summers heat and humidity, but a stray shower passed through a little while before the ceremony and cooled things down a little bit.  The ceremony was brief, but beautiful with Lauren’s sister-in-law and friends standing by her side as Bridesmaids and their sons stood with their Dad as his Groomsmen. Their marriage was not just the joining of a man and woman but the seamless blending of a family as each has a son who are within a year of each other in age.  How awesome is instant brotherhood?  And there is no doubt the boys are true brothers, watching Matthew grab Sebastian’s hand so he could cover his eyes as his shyness overtook him walking down the aisle and seeing that his brother led him so carefully was a great example of the love they have already established for each other.

The grounds at Chateau Michele may not be extensive, but on a hot day that is a blessing and they have maximized on the area they do have with beautiful trees and shrubbery that make a lovely little area to act as backdrop and to frame Lauren & Rich who are pro-level at melting into each other and making beautiful photos.  Once all the formalities were done we joined the guests and the room erupted with cheers as the new Mr. & Mrs. were introduced and the volume levels continued all evening long as everyone got their groove on dancing or tried on crazy hats, glasses and such at the photo booth until the newlyweds snuck home to grab a few hours sleep before heading to sunny (and eventually less rainy) Florida to enjoy their shark-tooth-hunting filled honeymoon!
