When you show up to your engagement session the last thing you probably want to hear from your photographer is, “So, I’ve decided to scrap most of the locations we planned on going to.” But when the clients are Callie and Mark and this is the shot the photog shows you on her camera, you instead get a happy clap and excitement along with a “Oh yes, let’s go there instead.” Because…well, they rock!
These two are total naturals in front of the camera and it was all I could do to keep up with Callie’s amazing posing switchups. The chick knows how to move it, move it! She and Mark go together like peas and carrots and their relaxed attitudes and amazing ability to not let the chill temperatures get to them made this session one of my all-time favorites. I am so glad they were open to my creativity and just a ton of fun to hang out with. And I am also pretty pleased that I Google Earthed my way around this new downtown Akron location before the session so I could happen upon this urban grunge oasis at Lock 3 park.
I just know that their July wedding is going to be filled with love, laughter, tons of fabulous style and so many fantastic family and friends because who couldn’t love these two? I know I already do!
The forecast had been cringe worthy all week, but we hoped and did our no-rainy-rain dance because these two are happening and busy peoples so our session date had to stick! After much bouncing of ideas for the location I directed Andrea and Jake to my handy, dandy locations gallery to see if any sparked their interest, and oh boy did one! I have had the Flats on my photography bucket list for, well…a really, really long time. AND THEY CHOSE IT!! And the weather was respectful, so good on us all around.
We met up at the Main Avenue Bridge after Jake & Andrea enjoyed a nice dinner down on W. 4th Street and let the magic unfold. We played, we joked, we snuck in a few wedding plans and these two fell into the scenery like they were meant to show it off to its best effect. Like, seriously, look at these photos and tell me they didn’t rock it! That Cleveland skyline from the Superior Viaduct just can’t compete with what is in front of it all.
I had such a blast with these guys, not just in front of my lens, but discussing so many topics and addressing Andrea’s excellent questions on my background, inspirations and wedding photography dreams while we were zipping from location to location. These two know exactly what they want, how they want it and how to make it their own and I cannot wait until their August wedding to see all the Roaring Twenties touches come to life, it will be a celebration for the ages and I am so glad to be on this journey with them.
